Chinese Economy Paper Topics - Understanding the Chinese Economy
Chinese Economy Paper Topics - Understanding the Chinese EconomyPaper topics have been a part of every lecture for Breece, a student at Newcastle University in England. The Paper Topics course was set up by Professor Julie Lord (whose name also appears on the final examination papers) as a way of offering a range of different subjects and promoting a sense of freedom to her students. This class is dedicated to international business and current events. Breece, an aspiring journalist, says, 'The purpose of the course is to give students an opportunity to explore the world as it actually is, not how we imagine it to be. It's intended to be a challenge, which will ultimately make us smarter.'Business topics covered include global economics, finance, business regulations, mergers and acquisitions, healthcare and health care politics, and business ethics. Business news is also an important part of this course, such as the company that controls the world's largest cocoa futures market. After each lesson, students are presented with a similar news story, followed by a discussion and quiz. Breece said, 'The most recent news can sometimes be a little hard to follow, but it does give you an idea of the way business is done in other countries.' By putting a face to the global economy, Breece hopes that her students will become more educated and globally aware and understand the ins and outs of the business world. You might think that this type of academic study is expensive, but in comparison to post-graduate courses like law or medicine, academic study is relatively inexpensive. Professor Lord herself commutes to Newcastle every day, and says that she puts more of her time into the Paper Topics course than she would into other subjects.Because of its affordability, Paper Topics courses have grown over the years, especially since they are a great way for students to meet new people. 'I sometimes do about fifty odd people at a time,' says Breece. The convenience of meeting ou tside of class is just one of the many benefits of Paper Topics.Speaking from experience, most English students at universities find it hard to interact with other people in their own country, let alone those from another country, let alone another language. Many English students think that socializing is impossible. Paper Topics means to change this mindset, and helps students learn about the various cultures that they come into contact with.In Breece's opinion, the beauty of Paper Topics is that the classes do not try to cover everything about economic life in China. Instead, it focuses on the differences between the Western and Chinese models of development. Learning these differences is essential for the type of person that Breece hopes to become: a global citizen who understands global politics and economics.
